Health Care Changes in China
Interesting article in the WSJ about changes in health care in China. I spent a couple of weeks teaching a short course at Peking University this past summer which was an interesting experience. One interesting change is the allowance of couples to have two children if they were both single children (as most are). This will introduce quite a 'baby boom' and it will be interesting to watch the age structure of subsequent generations. When I was teaching at PKU this summer, one of my students noted that they could use payroll taxes to fund health expansions as the larger birth cohorts come into working ages, and she then asked 'are there any problems with that approach?; Hmmmm......
