The Senate Finance Committee completed its work this morning about 2am. The final committee vote will be next week after the CBO renders final judgement on the cost of the bill, and most importantly, whether it remains budget neutral (Sen. Baucus says it will reduce the deficit over next 10 years; CBO said the initial bill would reduce it by $49 Billion over 10 before amendments.
This is an interesting interview by Ezra Klein with Sen. Tom Carper (D-Del), a member of the Senate Finance Committee.
Baucus says he has votes to pass it out of his committee and to the floor, and as he said earlier this week "I can count."
