William Galston arguing the Dems have to move ahead with the Senate bill. Interesting comparison of President Bush's decision to surge in Iraq after the polls showed the public no longer supported the war, but he moved ahead because he thought it was the correct thing to do. The President has got to say clearly to the Dems in House to pass Senate bill if that is what he thinks is best....even if going against the polls. And then be prepared to suffer the consequences.....at some point you've got to not only figure out what you are for, but what you are willing to lose over, if it comes to that.
On the merits, the Senate bill is a good step ahead, and the best move for the good of the country is for the House to pass it.
